WEBINAR: Unlock Nature's Medicine Chest in Your Headlands & Hedgerows

THURSDAY 30TH JUNE - Medical Herbalist, shepherdess and pasture consultant, Kate Scott shares her wisdom based on a lifetime of experience using herbs and medicinal plants for ruminant health and nutrition. Kate has a unique heritage being descended from generations of herbalists and drovers, which has inspired her passion for British native plants.

This course will appeal to farmers of ruminants and horses especially if they want to make the best of the areas of land they are not currently using ie the headlands.

Interest in diverse pasture and herbal leys has become more mainstream in farming in recent years. However, the potential of headlands and hedgerows, including trees and shrubs, is often completely overlooked. These are an important source of natural supplementation and 'medicine' for grazing animals who will self-medicate themselves and choose plants for their prophylactic properties if provided with the right ingredients. For example, animals will often strip willow which has analgesic properties and contains the phytochemical salicin which was used in the synthesis of Aspirin in 1899.

Kate shares her extensive knowledge on those plants native to our field margins and hedgerows that have specific medicinal properties, which boost immunity and which can act prophylactically. By the end of the webinar you will know exactly how to make the most out of these 'natural dispensaries' to benefit your livestock.
