BAHVS Conference

It’s good to talk, and even better when you can talk face to face. This year was the first since lockdown, which kept so many of us socially distant, that we had a chance to get together. The venue was nestling at the foot of the South Downs, with beautiful views of the coastline and The Channel beyond.

The conference covered many topics. Including looking at the practical use of homeopathy in veterinary practice, details about new remedies, the philosophical aspects around healing and much more. While on-line platforms have many advantages, there is something so important about the real human to human connection when people get together in the same space. Sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences somehow happens much more fluidly when there is a group of people together.

The organisers of the conference were challenging themselves this year. Not only were they taking on the responsibility of hiring the venue, organising the speakers, handling catering, ensuring everyone was able to travel ok and had somewhere to stay, they were also going to create a hybrid version of the conference. They were going to connect with the wider veterinary homeopathy world so that those that could not be there in person could also participate via the miracle of modern online technology.

It was a heroic undertaking. Much of what health is about is the ability to adapt and re-balance in adverse circumstances. The core team of organisers certainly did a great job bringing their knowledge, skills and experience together to allow those at a distance to benefit.

We all felt suitably refreshed and rejuvenated. Keen and energised, ready to bring back our enthusiasm and new knowledge back to our practices, so that the animals in our care could benefit from our learning. So many thanks go out to all those who made this happen.

If you are lucky enough to have a practice near to you where they offer homeopathy, that is fantastic. If not, you may be able to find one who can support you form a distance. Check the BAHVS website and go to Find-a-Vet
